Stars and choirs assemble in this two-disc celebration of the Christmas spirit. A formidable roster of classical talent is assembled for this double-disc distilling of the Yuletide spirit. Traditional selections (The First Nowell, Ding Dong Merrily etc.) are shared between the choristers of King's College, Cambridge and Westminster Abbey, both expert exponents of the carol repertoire. If their contributions are the makings of the cake, then there are plenty of big names to provide the icing - Bryn Terfel, for instance (Mary's Boy Child and White Christmas), and Kiri Te Kanawa (Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas). Renee Fleming, a Straussian soprano of more recent vintage, contributes Handel's Rejoice greatly (one of several Messiah snippets), and from a still younger generation comes the Silent Night duet of Aled Jones and Hayley Westenra. Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli and The Vienna Boys Choir (in the evergreen Twelve Days of Christmas) are among the other artists represented in this atmospherically seasonal collection
